You learn Every time

She would flick through the pictures, thumbprints hardly effecting the glossy finish as she would peer into the world that lay beyond.

Some parts of her missed the friends that she had made and the connections that she had shared with others for a time but the other half was pleased to be moving foward in her life-- moving forward and moving up.

There is always an ultimate goal, and while she had yet to find hers, she was entirely prepared for the mystery and surrender that would carry her through. She would of course first have to grasp this surrender, but she desired the light to be shone on her for twenty minutes, not glimpse the faces of someone else's happiness.

But again, happiness was like the fingerprints she was trying so hard to avoid placing on the picture. Different for everyone and complicated in design- no one could feign happiness like no one could create a truly unique mark with 6 billion people in the world; just like no one could be entirely devoid of such either.

As she looked deeper at the faces that avoided the camera, she came across the familiar personnes that for so long she had dreaded so much.

She no longer felt the yearning tug of her heartstrings as they were pulled in every which direction:

to love
to despair
to leave
to stay
aimer
désespérer
partir
rester
So wonderful at last to be free of the burden; so grandiose the weight of the air.
