Food Bags.

The cue was long and she continuously wondered the purpose of standing there amidst all the people who in their own way stood also, catching brief snippets of thoughts that whizzed through their heads- anything to quell the heavy silence in their minds.

She watched them, all of them as they twiddled their fingers, played with their bits of unapproximated fringes and twirled strands of hair, all deft motions that seemed to preoccupy their boredom with something mindless.

That was just what it was these days: mindless. Monotonous. Redundant. Where was the chase? Where was the excitement in not know what was to come?

She was more free than the rest of them but seemed to prove otherwise as she stood with her hands in her pockets, playing with the bits of lint that seemed to line the creases.

She began to wonder why these people were all doing the same things? Why could people not think for themselves? Why could they not be satisfied with just being them?

Why could they not be alone? Why did they always feel the need to cue up for any and everything?

Why could they not believe?

Why could they not stand up for the unjust circumstances that seemed to permeate every moment of every day and say 'You know, I don't like this. I don't think this is right.'

Woah, She found herself thinking. No need to over think things. Just look like everyone else.

But something in her rebelled. Struggled. She wanted to be out and free and travelling and aiding and teaching, not stuck here in the mundane consistency of life regarding the tabloids with the messed up people doing messed up things with messed up journalists holding on to their every word.

'Um, excuse me miss?' She shook her head at the voice, trying to clear her fuzzy, scrambled thoughts from her mind.

'Yeah, sorry?'

'Are you ready to pay now?'

She dug out a few spare coins in addition to the bill she whipped out of her back pocket and picked up the brown paper bag.

She was initially going to have macaroni and cheese for dinner, instead she decided for dahl and rotis. Just to switch it up.
